Deal With Local Business Makes Tech Buying Easier

22 June 2017

The Andrews Labor Government has signed an new agreement with a local company that will make accessing new technologies and eServices easier, more efficient and cheaper.

Special Minister of State Gavin Jennings announced today that all government departments and tech providers will now use the new VendorPanel system for ICT services procurement.

The eServices platform is particularly conducive to small and medium enterprises and will make it easier to do business with government.

The Victorian Government makes about 900 purchases a year on eServices from almost 1,800 providers. These services and products include web content management systems, geospatial data services and 3D modelling, and ICT strategy development and analysis.

Using the new locally-developed online VendorPanel procurement system will simplify how government departments and agencies source eServices providers.

With the VendorPanel system suppliers will be able to upload company information and supporting information, such as insurance certificates, at point of registration thereby reducing the regulatory burden of having to provide such information with each individual tender response.

The eServices Register also uses a simplified contract structure that is more accommodating to small businesses.

VendorPanel Pty Ltd started in Melbourne in 2010 and has grown to be a major player in their field, with more than 700 government and corporate clients in Australia.

The new contract with VendorPanel came into effect this month, delivering another key milestone of the Victorian Government’s Information Technology Strategy 2016 - 2020.
