Datacom’s New Melbourne Office Creates 100 Jobs

07 April 2016

Leading Australasian IT services and solutions company Datacom Systems today announced it is set to create 100 new jobs over the next 12 months at the opening of its new office in South Melbourne.

The company’s decision to further invest in Victoria is another vote of confidence in the state’s growing tech expertise and digital capabilities, adding to a sector which now generates more than $34 billion in annual revenue and employs more than 91,300 people across the state.

Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade Philip Dalidakis officially opened the new office location and congratulated the Datacom Group, who currently employs more than 4,500 staff across four countries and 27 offices.

With approximately 1,500 staff in its eight Australian locations, the company is recognised as a local leader in IT management and consulting, cloud, datacentre and business services as well as software and app development.

In Victoria, it focuses on growth sectors including banking and financial services, education, health, transport and logistics.

The latest Deloitte Access Economics report predicts digital tech employment will grow 70 per cent faster than Australia’s overall employment growth over the next decade, and companies like Datacom are driving these jobs in Victoria.

Melbourne alone produces more IT graduates than any other Australian city and the Andrews Labor Government is taking every opportunity to ensure our workforce can provide more graduates with more job opportunities for the future.
