Crunch Time In Lilydale With Tyrrells Set To Create 120 Jobs

24 June 2016

In a move that is set to create 120 manufacturing jobs in Melbourne’s outer east, leading English potato crisps maker Tyrrells has chosen Victoria as its base to expand its brand into the Australian and Asia Pacific markets.

Minister for Industry and Employment Wade Noonan today welcomed Tyrrells’ decision to invest in Victorian food processing company Yarra Valley Snack Foods, which will also continue to produce its own popular lines of snacks.

Tyrrells’ investment provides a solid endorsement of Victoria’s credentials as a clean, green and safe manufacturer and exporter of premium quality food and beverages – and of the state’s stable AAA rated economy.

The Andrews Labor Government has worked closely with Tyrrells to facilitate its investment in Yarra Valley Snack Foods, which participated in the 2015 Food and Beverage Trade Week inbound trade mission.

Founded in 2002, Tyrrells has grown to become one of the UK’s favourite snack food brands, producing crisps, popcorn, rice crackers and tortillas using high quality, locally-sourced ingredients.

Tyrrells’ investment in Yarra Valley Snack Foods is its first outside of the UK.

Food and Fibre is one of the high growth sectors that the Labor Government is supporting through the Future Industries Fund to create jobs and economic growth and attract investment into the future.

Victoria is Australia’s largest exporter of food and fibre products, with exports worth $12 billion in 2014-15 and more than 190,000 Victorians employed in the sector across the state.
