Creative Fund For Major Works Kicks Off

29 June 2017

A new ground-breaking Andrews Labor Government program will help Victoria’s creative practitioners take their skills, and their careers, to the next level by giving them one of the most important creative resources – time.

Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley today launched the Creators Fund, which will support creative practitioners across all disciplines and career stages to undertake an extended period of creative development, research or experimentation, and create cutting edge – and career defining – new work.

The Fund is a key action of the $115 million Creative State strategy, and will provide individuals or creative collectives grants of between $20,000 - $50,000 to work intensively for a period of between three to six months.

In total, the program will provide $1.27 million to Victorian creators over the next two years.

The Creators Fund will support practitioners in the research and development phase, giving them the time to experiment and lay the groundwork for innovation.

Recipients will also be offered the opportunity to participate in a lab-style program where they can share information, network with other recipients and present their concepts and ideas to potential partners, collaborators or investors.

The program responds to one of the biggest challenges faced by Victorian creative practitioners – the lack of time to devote to their creative practice, particularly research and development.

Full guidelines for the Creators Fund will be available in July and potential applicants are encouraged to contact Creative Victoria to learn more about the program.

Expressions of interest for the Creators Fund will open on August 17 and close on 7 September 2017. For more information on the fund and other opportunities offered through Creative State, visit creative.vic.gov.auExternal Link
