The Andrews Labor Government is asking the community to come forward and shape the design of the transformational redevelopment of Warrnambool Base Hospital.
Minister for Health Mary-Anne Thomas today launched a community survey on the Engage Victoria website for Warrnambool and surrounding communities to have a say on the key services and shared spaces most important to them.
Community members are also invited to learn more about the redevelopment and take part in the survey at pop-up community information sessions at the Warrnambool Shopping Centre (154 Koroit Street) between 11am and 2pm on Saturday, 27 August and from Monday, 29 August to Friday 2 September.
Community feedback will help architects design new family and outdoor spaces at the redeveloped hospital that will meet the needs of the region now and into the future.
The massive $384 million Warrnambool Base Hospital redevelopment will deliver a new clinical services tower and additional capacity to ensure more families can access the care they need close to home.
The redevelopment will include an expanded emergency department, an extra 22 inpatient beds, more operating theatres, more car parking and a dedicated paediatric unit.
A new off-site Regional Logistics Distribution Centre (RLDC) will also support more than 50 health providers across the region.
Early works at Warrnambool Base Hospital are expected to start in early 2023, with main works on the new multi-storey tower to begin in 2024.
Delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority, the Warrnambool Base Hospital redevelopment is expected to be completed in late 2026.
