Colac CBD Revitalisation Complete

23 February 2018

Colac’s main shopping strip is now a more attractive place to stop, shop and socialise with the completion of the $1.95 million CBD Revitalisation Project.

Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria Danielle Green joined Colac Otway Shire today to officially welcome the completed works.

The Colac CBD Revitalisation Project includes major streetscape enhancements along Murray Street – from Queen Street to Corangamite Street – with improvements to the centre median, footpaths, street furniture and landscaping.

The project has created a new park on part of the Telstra site at the corner of Murray and Queen streets, delivering a beautiful entrance to the CBD.

A smart irrigation system has been installed in garden beds and the centre median to ensure plant and tree health all year round.

The improvements are expected to deliver significant economic benefits to Colac by encouraging locals and visitors to shop in town. It will also improve the liveability of Colac as a place to live, work and visit.

The business and residential community provided feedback on the project, which has resulted in a functional and aesthetic design.

The $1.95 million project was supported by Regional Development Victoria, Local Government Victoria, the Federal Government and Colac Otway Shire Council.
