Canadian Tech Educator Sets Sight On Victoria

07 October 2021

An innovative Canadian edutech company is partnering with a leading Victorian TAFE institution to establish its Asia Pacific base in Australia’s leading tech city, Melbourne.

Minister for Economic Development Tim Pallas today announced Lighthouse Labs, in partnership with Holmesglen TAFE, will offer digital Bootcamp courses for those seeking a rapid career transition and offer new career pathways.

Founded in 2013, Lighthouse Lab finds innovative ways to train the next generation of tech talent, offer courses to upskill or support a career change, and provide the necessary skills to find long-lasting careers in a digital workforce.

The five-year partnership with Holmesglen TAFE will offer its sought-after 12-week Bootcamp programs in Web Development and Data Analytics, beginning in February 2022.

The investment is another example in line with the Victorian Government’s International Investment Strategy, which aims to attract global companies from emerging and growth industries that are crucial to grow the state’s economy, create jobs and bring innovation to Victoria.

The partnership will support the expansion of the state’s skilled digital workforce, alongside other measures like the Digital Jobs program, which aims to build the state’s digital workforce by training and upskilling mid-career Victorians so they can transition into digital careers.

To date, Lighthouse Labs has trained and introduced more than 30,000 students to the practice of coding and has launched Bootcamp students into careers in the tech industry, with a 99 per cent employment rate.
