Students in Cranbourne and Keysborough were big winners in Victorian Budget 2016/17 and will now enjoy the facilities they deserve thanks to an unprecedented investment in Victorian schools.
Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Cranbourne Jude Perera began the day at Cranbourne Secondary College following the announcement it will receive $9 million in new funding to complete its rebuild.
The project got underway when the school received $1 million in last year’s Budget and is expected to be complete by late 2018.
Mr Merlino and Member for Keysborough Martin Pakula also visited Keysborough College which received $10 million to modernise its facilities.
This funding comes after the $1.5 million in last year’s Budget and enables the school to complete upgrades to its admin block, toilets, creative and visual arts facilities and canteen and classrooms.
Keysborough College also received a big funding boost this year when it received $3,634,107 in equity funding, up $1,013,445 compared with last year.
This increase is part of the Andrews Labor Government’s Education State funding initiative which provides an extra $566 million to help schools and students most in need to break the cycle of disadvantage.
As part of Education Week, Victorian students at hundreds of schools and early childhood centres will open their doors to the community to showcase how they are helping Victorian children reach their potential, focusing on this year’s theme technology. For more information visit:
