Building The Education State In Albert Park

22 January 2017

Albert Park College students heading back to school this year will be joined by construction workers, with a $900,000 upgrade underway thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Today, construction started on two new classrooms above the College’s gymnasium to help accommodate growing enrolments.

Plans for the new classrooms have been drawn up by Six Degrees Architects and Stokes RousseauExternal Link have been appointed builders. The classrooms are expected to be ready around mid-2017.

More than 90,000 students are forecast to enter our schools over the next five years due to Victoria’s population boom and there is a growing demand across the inner city.

Last October the Labor Government announced a further four new schools for inner city families, as well as extra classrooms for Albert Park College.

There are now 42 new government schools and hundreds of school upgrades in the construction pipeline following our record $1.8 billion investment in school infrastructure.

This school building boom will create 4000 construction jobs and ensure all Victorian families have access to a great school no matter where they live.
