Breaking Ground For Bigger, Better Wattle Glen Station

01 March 2017

The Wattle Glen CFA fire station is receiving a $500,000 upgrade thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Emergency Services James Merlino and Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green were on site today to turn the first sod to mark the start of construction.

The building extension will provide Wattle Glen’s brigade members with superior facilities so they can get on with the job of protecting the community from fires and other emergencies.

The station upgrade is designed for future growth and will provide plenty of space for the brigade to operate from and train in.

Local construction firm Keith Miller and Sons Builders P/L was awarded the contract to build the extension, which is due for completion in August 2017.

While the previous Liberal Government slashed $66 million from the CFA budget, the Labor Government is investing in our fire services to keep Victorian communities safe.

The Labor Government is rebuilding stations in places like Huntly, Buninyong, Plenty and Edithvale and delivered 70 additional trucks for CFA volunteer brigades.

The Government also recently announced that volunteer brigades will receive an additional 28 trucks as part of a $35 million Emergency Management Volunteers Package.
