Boosting Support For Multicultural Communities

19 October 2022

The Andrews Labor Government is helping build new, accessible spaces where Victoria’s multicultural communities can share and celebrate their history and culture.

Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ros Spence has announced the recipients of the latest round of the Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund, with successful organisations sharing in $2.6 million.

This round of grants will invest in 20 infrastructure projects that will support 14 cultural communities, eight religious groups and 16 language groups.

Successful projects include supporting the early stages of redevelopment of the Museum of Chinese Australian History, upgrades and renovations to the Australian Nepalese Multicultural Centre and support for building renovations at the North Cyprus Turkish Community of Victoria.

Organisations were encouraged to apply for grants of up to $500,000 to undertake infrastructure projects that can be delivered by 31 October 2023.

Through the Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund, the Labor Government is supporting dedicated facilities that enhance access to community services and engagement programs and promote social cohesion and inclusion.
