Boost To Services With New Kinder In Chelsea

09 November 2017

Families with young children in Chelsea now have access to quality local kindergarten programs they need, with the opening of the new Chelsea Kindergarten.

Minister for Early Childhood Education Jenny Mikakos today officially opened the new $2 million kindergarten at Chelsea Primary School, which will improve local early childhood services and facilities.

The new facility will include a multipurpose meeting space, as well as 102 new kindergarten places for children, including 44 three-year-old places and 58 four-year-old places.

The Victorian Government funded the project, which was delivered by Kingston City Council and will be operating at the beginning of 2018.

The Andrews Labor Government is delivering a record $70 million to build, expand and upgrade kinders across Victoria to ensure local families can continue to access great local kindergartens.

Chelsea families will also benefit from the Labor Government’s $202.1 million Education State Early Childhood Reform Plan.

This ground-breaking reform plan recognises the importance of providing families with strong support in early childhood, so kids are ready for kinder and ready for school.

It will mean local parents can access improved parenting support and Maternal and Child Health Services, as well as higher quality and more inclusive kindergartens.
