Boost To Manufacturing In Melbourne’s South East

17 March 2016

Minister for Industry Lily D’Ambrosio has officially opened a new $5m production facility at Dandenong South, which will create 20 new jobs.

The new manufacturing facility for 3fold Resources will consolidate the company’s manufacturing, warehousing and project management under one roof.

The company will also employ an extra 20 new workers, including some from the automotive sector.

3fold Resources employs 100 workers and provides design, sourcing, manufacture, installation and on-going support services and warehousing for store fit-outs for high profile companies such as Wesfarmers.

Ms D’Ambrosio used the announcement to reaffirm the Andrews Labor Government’s support for Victoria’s manufacturing industry and to urge other local businesses to apply for government assistance to find new opportunities to grow and create new jobs.

The Labor Government is supporting Melbourne’s south-east region through its $46.5 million automotive transition plan to help businesses, workers and communities affected by the closure of the car manufacturing industry in Australia.

It includes the $10 million Local Industry Fund for Transition program to stimulate private investment that creates new sustainable jobs and economic activity in the south-east.

The $5 million Automotive Supply Chain Transition Program is also available to help local businesses get the expert help they need to identify new opportunities and develop a business plan to transition into new markets.

Through the Labor Government’s $200 million Future Industries Fund, local businesses can also apply for grants of up to $500,000 to help implement new manufacturing technologies and processes, while grants of up to $1 million are available to support the development of new energy or renewable energy projects.

Information about these programs is available on the Business Victoria website ( www.business.vic.gov.auExternal Link )
