Board To Lead Frankston Station Precinct Transformation

29 November 2015

The Andrews Labor Government has announced the establishment of a new Master Plan Delivery Board to oversee the implementation of the $63 million Frankston Station Precinct Redevelopment.

The Board will be Chaired by Member for Frankston, Paul Edbrooke, and include a range of prominent local representatives, including:

  • Cr James Dooley, Mayor, Frankston City Council
  • Karin Hann, Executive Officer, Frankston Business Network
  • Superintendent Glen Weir, Victoria Police
  • Sue Williams, Chief Executive, Peninsula Health
  • Professor Leon Piterman AM, Pro Vice Chancellor, Monash University
  • Maria Peters, Chief Executive Officer, Chisholm Institute
  • Kevin Hutchings, Managing Director, South East Water
  • Gabe North, Centre Manager, Vicinity Centres, Bayside Shopping Centre

The new Board will provide local leadership and work with residents, businesses and stakeholders to ensure the redevelopment meets the needs and wants of the community, as well as passengers and visitors to Frankston.

The establishment of the Board continues the strong local involvement in Frankston Station Precinct Redevelopment project. In August, the recommendations of the Frankston Station Precinct Taskforce were presented to Government following community feedback that identified the spending priorities for the project.

The redevelopment will transform the heart of Frankston into a safe, modern hub for transport, TAFE and shopping, with a permanent Police presence, new retail and café strip and a commercial hub for local businesses.

Funded initiatives such as improving Young Street will be developed this year, in partnership with Frankston City Council, with construction expected to commence in the first-half of 2016. Other recommendations from the master plan will be considered by the Labor Government and used to prioritise investment.

In addition to this $63 million Frankston Station Precinct Redevelopment, the Labor Government is investing $46.9 million to deliver stage one of improvements to Chisholm TAFE.
