Families in the outer east will be able to rely on outstanding local sporting facilities, with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to deliver $10.5 million towards the redevelopment of Pinks Reserve in Kilsyth.
Pinks Reserve is one of the most well-loved and popular sporting precincts in the region – but despite record levels of participation, the facilities are struggling to keep up.
The massive upgrade from a re-elected Labor Government will improve the reserve’s basketball, football, cricket, softball, netball, badminton, table tennis and recreational facilities.
The upgrade will include a major expansion of the Gary Tait Pavilion, resurfacing of the Roy Baldwin Oval and an additional competition grade court to be constructed alongside other improvements within the Kilsyth Sports Centre.
The upgrade will also see covering of up to 6 outdoor netball courts, and improvements to the badminton, table tennis and softball facilities. Other works across the precinct also includes new lighting, fencing, paths and seating.
The upgraded Pinks Reserve will be utilised by local sporting clubs, with Kilsyth Football Club, Kilsyth Juniors, the Lilydale and Yarra Valley Netball Association, Lilydale Ejays Softball Club, Kilsyth Cricket Club, Kilsyth Basketball, the Mountain District Badminton Association and the Croydon and Districts Table Tennis Association all set to benefit.
With these upgrades from a re-elected Labor Government, local clubs – and this local community – will have the great sporting facilities they deserve.
The commitment builds on the Andrews Labor Government’s existing investments in Pinks Reserve including nearly $50,000 for new cricket nets and $50,000 to begin the sites masterplan.
Allowing work to begin straight away, $450,000 in fast-tracked funding will be provided now from the Community Sport and Infrastructure and Pick My Project with remaining funds to flow under a re-elected Labor Government.
The Andrews Labor Government has made the biggest investment in grassroots sporting opportunities in Victoria’s history, with $420 million dedicated to community sports.
