The Andrews Labor Government is improving sport and recreation activities for Caroline Springs families, with works now underway on the Caroline Springs Leisure Centre expansion.
Minister for Local Government Marlene Kairouz today turned the first sod on the $5.8 million project, which will see the addition of two indoor multi-purpose high ball courts, unisex change rooms, spectator seating, landscaping and accessible amenities.
The project will also address the lack of indoor courts across Melton’s eastern corridor, and provide more sport and recreation opportunities for local and neighbouring residents.
The Caroline Springs Leisure Centre expansion will be completed in late 2018.
The project is being funded through a $2.5 million grant from the Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund, with Melton City Council also contributing $3.3 million.
Melton City Council has received $10.7 million from the GSF over the last two years.
The Growing Suburbs Fund targets high priority projects that improve the liveability of communities in Victoria’s 10 interface councils on Melbourne’s fringe.
The Government recently announced another $50 million for the Growing Suburbs Fund as part of the Victorian Budget 2017/18.
