More than 66,000 teachers and principals started back at school today, as almost one million kids enjoyed their last day of the holidays.
Today also is the first day of school for 2500 ‘grads’ who are starting their new careers as qualified teachers in Victorian government schools.
Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for Education, James Merlino, visited Braybrook College today to meet and congratulate seven new teachers who have a busy school year ahead of them.
Braybrook College has employed a record number of graduates this year in subject areas as diverse as PE, science, literacy and humanities.
The College is supporting the grads through a mentoring program. Every week during Term 1, they will meet with a leading teacher and a mentor to discuss any issues and receive guidance.
Braybrook College is a high-performing school in Melbourne’s west with one student scoring a perfect ATAR of 99.95 in 2014 and thirteen others scoring above 90. Forty six languages are spoken at the school.
