Backing Inverleigh Hawks And Kookaburras To Fly High

06 June 2022

Football, netball and cricket clubs in Inverleigh now have new and upgraded changes rooms to prepare for games, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence joined Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle over the weekend to officially open new upgrades and female friendly change rooms at the Inverleigh Sporting Complex, made possible by more than $1.52 million from the Labor Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.

With community sport back bigger and better than ever in regional hubs like Inverleigh, the new change rooms will enable the Inverleigh Hawks and Inverleigh Kookaburras to grow its female teams and host more competitions.

The project has delivered two new female friendly change rooms, umpire change rooms, new first aid room, massage rooms and storage space, as well as upgrades to two existing change rooms.

This complements the recently completed two new netball courts at the Complex, backed by $250,000 from the Government’s Female Friendly Facilities Fund.

Funding for these projects is part of the Government’s $1.2 billion investment in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.

From pavilion redevelopments to netball court upgrades, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation.

Golden Plains Shire Council, Federal Government, Inverleigh Sporting Complex and Inverleigh Football Netball Club also made financial contributions to the upgrades.
