Australian Grand Prix Results Released

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation report has today been tabled in Parliament, which shows the 2015 Formula 1 ® Rolex Australian Grand Prix attracted an estimated 296,000 spectators and showcased Victoria to fans right around the world.

The report shows a peak Australian audience of 3.82 million watched Sunday’s broadcast, and many millions more overseas. The Victorian Government’s investment was $61.735 million – a 2.9 per cent increase on the year prior. The report shows the corporate hospitality and sponsorship sectors drove revenue growth for the event up 4 per cent, in addition to the massive benefits that flow from marketing Victoria and Melbourne to the world.

The 2014 Tissot Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix attracted an estimated crowd of 77,900 people across three days, confirming the Phillip Island race as regional Australia’s premier international sporting event. The Victorian Government’s investment was $9.985 million.

The Formula 1 ® Australian Grand Prix and Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix are flagship dates on our enviable calendar of events, attracting visitors from all over the world and beaming images of our state to the homes of viewers overseas.

The Andrews Labor Government recently announced the Formula 1 ® Australian Grand Prix will remain in Victoria until 2023, beating competitors interstate who wanted to steal it.

Bigger and better events mean more visitors, jobs and growth. They ensure Victoria stays high on the list of travellers worldwide who want to see for themselves we have the best of everything.

The Labor Government is attracting the biggest and best events to Victoria, and has committed an additional $80 million to our events war chest.
