Architect Appointed For Sandringham Rebuild

06 April 2020

Sandringham Primary School students are a step closer to returning to a rebuilt school, with an architect
appointed to the exciting project.

Minister for Education James Merlino today announced the appointment of Peter Elliott Architecture to draw up plans to rebuild the school.

A fire on 1 February caused significant damage to the school, in particular to both the west and south wings and the library.

Initial works to ensure the remaining buildings are safe and weatherproof have been completed, with demolition now in full swing.

All students were temporarily relocated to Sandringham East Primary School and Sandringham College after the fire. The school will subsequently operate from the Bluff Road Campus of Sandringham College for the remainder of 2020 and for the full 2021 school year.

Under the Andrews Labor Government’s school building boom, a total of 100 new schools will open by 2026, ensuring every child can access a great local school where students can achieve their best.
