Ararat On Track For Easter Harness Racing Cups

Families and holidaymakers travelling to the Grampians will be treated to a fantastic night of harness racing in Ararat this Easter, thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Government.

A jumping castle, petting zoo and pony rides are just a few of the family-friendly attractions on offer at the Ararat Harness Racing Club meeting on Easter Saturday, 26 March 2016.

The Easter Bunny will make a surprise visit to the Russell T White Raceway, ensuring it will be a night to remember for the children.

Racegoers will be entertained with live music and the AFL showdown between the Sydney Swans and Collingwood will be broadcast live on the big screen.

Patrons will also have the chance to go in the draw for a camper trailer and supplies valued at almost $4000.

On the track, the racing highlights include the running of the Group 3 Renown Silverware Ararat Pacing Cup and the Clive Reid Memorial Ararat Trotters Cup, both run over 2570 metres.

The Government is providing more than $11,000 towards the $23,450 event, courtesy of its Victorian Racing Industry Fund Raceday Attraction Program.

Harness Racing Victoria, the club and sponsors are also jointly contributing more than $12,000.

The racing industry in the Western District generates more than $100 million for the Victorian economy and helps sustain over 980 full-time equivalent jobs in the region.
