Ambassador Announced For Premier’s Active April

02 March 2015

Victorians are urged to register for Premier’s Active April, which challenges people to incorporate physical activity into their daily routines in April.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, over 60 per cent of Australian adults and 80 per cent of children do not meet the recommended levels of physical activity.

However, everyday activities such as taking the stairs, walking the kids to and from school, riding a bike or even just getting out in the garden can help improve an individual’s health and wellbeing.

This year, Catherine Andrews is helping to lead the charge as an Ambassador of the program.

Victorians of any age and fitness level can sign up, either as individuals or in teams, and can log their daily activity with the Active April ‘app’.

The app allows participants to create and join teams, chart their progress and discover events that are taking place in their local areas.

Last year, more than 90,000 Victorians registered for Premier’s Active April. This year, participants will receive:

  • 10 free passes to a participating YMCA or local government facility
  • 15% discount at Sportsmart (in-store and online)
  • One free hour tennis court hire at Melbourne Park or Albert Reserve
  • A 2 for 1 ticket offer to SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium
  • Entry into the draw to win four tickets to the 2015 Toyota AFL Grand Final
