Agribusiness Grows Its Success At State Export Awards

07 October 2016

A family owned and operated vegetable grower from Clyde has been recognised as Victoria’s leading exporter in agribusiness at the prestigious 37th Governor of Victoria Export Awards (GOVEA).

Third generation farmers Schreurs & Sons, who have been growing and breeding their products for more than 50 years, took home the Agribusiness Award that recognises international success in agricultural products, services or technology.

Schreurs & Sons have been exporting since 2013 and now supply its range of premium Victorian vegetables directly to six continents while continuing to invest locally with a new farm, water treatment system and high-care facility all aimed at increasing exports.

More than 50 businesses entered this year’s awards, designed to recognise the hard-work and economic contributions exporters make to Victoria, boosting the state’s business profile locally and internationally.

For the last three years running, a GOVEA winner has gone on to win the Australian Exporter of the Year award cementing Victoria’s reputation as the country’s leading exporter.

Victorian exports make a crucial contribution to the economy with total exports of goods and services in 2014-15 rising 4.8 per cent to a record $39.4 billion.

The patron of the Governor of Victoria Export Awards is the Honourable Linda Dessau AM, Governor of Victoria.
