$4 Million Commitment To Geelong Safe Harbour Project

15 March 2016

The Andrews Labor Government is pledging $4 million towards Stage One of the Geelong Waterfront Safe Harbour Precinct.

The Geelong Waterfront will be a significant asset to the region, boosting recreational and tourism activities for both the local community and visitors alike.

The Safe Harbour initiative will bring economic and tourism benefits to Geelong, including creating a number of jobs in the region.

Regional Development Victoria and Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning have recognised the importance of this project to both regional development and promoting the use of public space and will both contribute towards the commitment.

The project will help improve community and recreational facilities in the area and increase public access to the open space of the Geelong waterfront.

The Royal Geelong Yacht Club is seeking State and Federal funding to contribute towards the project.
