Sale Residents Get First Serve At Revamped Tennis Centre

Tennis players of all levels and abilities are set to benefit from the redevelopment of the Sale Tennis Centre, now complete with support from the Andrews Labor Government.

Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria Danielle Green announced the refurbished centre has officially opened, with Wellington Shire Council receiving $1 million for the project as part of the Labor Government’s Latrobe Valley Sports and Community Initiative.

The redevelopment of 12 tennis courts included the construction of four new red porous surface courts that meet requirements for hosting ITF-level tournaments, and eight existing courts were upgraded to improve club-level competition.

Seating and shared pathways have been upgraded to help connect facilities and improve accessibility, and new lighting installed for evening games.

Sale Tennis Club also received additional Labor Government funding to install solar power and a new battery storage system to increase the club’s sustainability and energy efficiency.

The Sale Tennis Centre redevelopment was one of seven major sports infrastructure projects delivered through the Latrobe Valley Authority’s $85 million Sports and Community Initiative which is boosting community pride, local participation and helping to attract major events to the region.
