Regional Victoria... Your Happy Space

27 July 2018

The Andrews Labor Government has launched a major intrastate tourism campaign to bring more Melburnians to regional Victoria – supporting jobs and boosting local businesses.

Your Happy Space showcases our stunning regions, diverse experiences and world-class food, art, music, nature and culture Victoria has to offer.

The Grampians region features heavily in the campaign, which is part of Visit Victoria’s work to grow visitor spending to $36.5 billion by 2025 and create thousands of local jobs.

It builds on the success of the Wander Victoria campaign and the Labor Government’s major investment to boost tourism in our regions – including the iconic Grampians Peak Trail, stunning silo art and award-winning wineries.

Tourism means serious business for our economy, with just over 50 million people visiting regional Victoria in the year to March 2018 – up by 20 per cent since 2014 – spending some $9.7 billion and creating thousands of jobs.

The Victorian Budget 2018/19 provides an extra $51.1 million to attract thousands more visitors from interstate and overseas.

An extra $2 million will be provided to help Regional Tourism Boards and Councils grow their local economies and local jobs by attracting new visitors and new events.

The Labor Government has already supported more than 160 events across regional Victoria and our national tourism campaign, A Twist At Every Turn, is continuing to attract interstate visitors.

The Labor Government is also funding the tourism infrastructure our state needs to keep visitors coming in droves, through the $103 million Regional Tourism Infrastructure Fund and the $153.2 million Geelong City Deal for the Geelong Convention Centre and Shipwreck Coast Master Plan.
