Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Natalie Hutchins, has congratulated the Wathaurung Aboriginal Corporation (Wadawurrung) on evaluating more than 250 Cultural Heritage Management Plans in just six years.
Cultural Heritage Management Plans assess the potential impact of a proposed activity on Aboriginal cultural heritage and manage how that heritage can best be protected.
As a Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP), Wadawurrung are the guardians of Aboriginal culture and the voice of Aboriginal people in the management of local heritage.
As part of her listening tour, Ms Hutchins recently met with the Wadawurrung, Eastern Maar and Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporations.
