The Andrews Labor Government has granted Australian Education City a six month exclusivity period from 15 August 2016 to 15 February 2017 in relation to the East Werribee Employment .
The announcement provides Australian Education City six months to progress its application to develop the precinct, which includes a range of educational, research, residential and commercial opportunities.
AEC’s proposal seeks to turn the 400 hectare site into a city that accommodates an international university precinct and a research and development hub.
The proposal also includes plans for retail, office, entertainment and residual uses, heritage park and botanic gardens.
The Labor Government has invested more than $70 million upgrading the roads in and around the East Werribee precinct to provide better access to jobs, services, schools and public transport in the area.
