Melbourne can now show the world it has the best of everything and give people a glimpse of its great treasures in real time.
Today, Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren launched Play Melbourne Live, which uses Twitter’s latest live video streaming app, Periscope, to take viewers on an intimate tour of our fabulous city.
Play Melbourne Live will broadcast the events, stories, people and places that make Melbourne one of the great destinations, and offer viewers an authentic glimpse of the world’s most liveable city.
Victoria offers visitors an unforgettable experience, and we want everyone to know it. Play Melbourne Live is one of the first tourism campaigns in the world based on a live-streaming video.
Play Melbourne Live “games” offer Periscope users unique access to our long list of world-renowned attractions, like the Andy Warhol | Ai WeiWei exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria. Viewers will be treated to a sneak peak of the world-premiere on December 10 – a day before it opens to the public.
Other Play Melbourne Live games include:
- An Australian Open Tennis ground pass
- A Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival backstage tour
- A front row seat in Masterchef star George Calombaris’ kitchen
We are the major events capital of Australia and the sporting capital of the world. We’re the multicultural state, the education state, and we’re where investors from all over the world want to come and do business. We want to show the world the best of everything we have to offer.
The Play Melbourne Live games are available on the Periscope app, simply by following @Melbourne.
