We’re delivering thousands of new homes and jobs in the heart of Melbourne.
The Carroll Labor Government has locked in the infrastructure funding plan to support the next stage of Fishermans Bend.
Minister for Housing, Building and Precincts Nick Staikos today announced the precinct's Development Contributions Plan (DCP).
It’s a major step forward to delivering the infrastructure needed to support thousands of new homes, jobs and businesses in Fishermans Bend.
The DCP will fund road, parks, drainage, community facilities, public spaces and transport connections are funded and delivered as the area develops.
It also provides certainty to residents and businesses on how major infrastructure will be funded and delivered.
The plan outlines more than 117 infrastructure projects to be delivered in stages through to 2055.
It will support thousands of new jobs and homes across the country’s largest urban renewal precinct.
It also aligns with the updated Connecting Fishermans Bend Integrated Transport Plan to support future tram extensions, metro stations, cycling links and improved connections.
Development in Fishermans Bend is accelerating, with almost $9 billion in private investment currently in the pipeline.
More than 16,300 homes are proposed, while around 4,700 homes have already been delivered or are underway, tracking ahead of short-term growth forecasts in the Montague and Wirraway neighbourhoods.
New commercial developments are also expected to support around 12,500 additional jobs.
In addition to the DCP, the Victorian Government is also finalising the Montague Precinct Implementation Plan.
This will outline the priority to support the growth of one of Fishermans Bend’s key neighborhoods over the next 10 years.
"The plan will update design controls to guide future investment, infrastructure and development in Montague, creating a more livable and connected neighbourhood.
