The winning design of the second Youth myki card will hit the network next year – unlocking free travel for every Victorian under 18.
Victorians voted for 13-year old’s Ryan colourful design – with his artwork set to feature on more than a million new Youth myki cards.
Labor launched the Youth myki to put money back in the pocket of Victorian parents
The Youth myki gives all passengers under 18 access to free travel on trains, trams and buses, anywhere in Victoria, anytime.
More than 700,000 young Victorians now have a Youth myki – helping them travel to school, work, sport and see friends and family.
The cards are saving families up to $755 per child.
The competition drew more than 4,000 entries and Ryan will receive a $1,000 cash prize for winning the statewide competition.
Fellow talented finalists, Ned 8 and Manahil 13 also will also receive $500 for their accomplishments.
Ryan’s design showcases a train, tram and bus – capturing all the ways young Victorians will be able to travel for free.
The new Youth myki design will be available for purchase next year.
The current Youth myki cards are available for $5 at all staffed stations, online and at myki retailers.
The Carroll Labor Government continues to bring costs down for families – with half price fares for everyone continuing until the end of the year.
Only Labor is making public transport cheaper and easier to use.
The Liberal-One Nation coalition are promising $40 billion in cuts which will see train, bus and tram services scrapped.
