Fuel prices remain high and it’s putting pressure on household budgets.
That’s why the Allan Labor Government is introducing new ways to help Victorians find the best fuel prices.
From today, Servo Saver in the Service Victoria app will make it clearer where you can find the cheapest petrol and which stations you should avoid.
Victorians will now see a ‘Highest Price’ warning when they open the app.
This will be displayed clearly in red and will make it clear which station has the most expensive fuel prices in your community or along your commute.
The app will also continue to show where the cheapest fuel is as well, highlighting these retailers in green.
Not only does this make it clearer for Victorians, but it also further incentivises retailers to keep their prices down.
Improvements have also been made to the user interface so that the availability of different fuel types is more obvious. This will make it easier for Victorians to know where they need to go to get to their destination.
These additions build on the success of Servo Saver with more than 520,000 users since it launched in October.
Labor is cracking down on servos not reporting their fuel prices on Servo Saver – with more than $80,000 in fines issued to more than 25 retailers since 10 March.
In March this year, Victoria’s new anti-price gouging laws came into effect – with retailers legally required to report their fuel prices and introducing a daily price cap.
Victoria now possesses the most comprehensive and reliable set of daily fuel data in the country.
Consumer Affairs Victoria is sharing data with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
