New Speed Limit On Stud Road To Improve Safety

28 March 2024

The Allan Labor Government will improve safety on Stud Road in Dandenong North by reducing the speed limit from 80km/h to 60km/h and exploring further measures to improve safety.

After a child tragically lost their life after being hit by a car on the stretch of road late last year, crews will be on the ground on the coming weeks to install new speed signs between Cheam Street and Heatherton Road across built-up residential and recreational areas.

This stretch of road sees more than 25,000 daily commuters in both directions, serving as a vital link to key destinations including Dandenong Stadium and Dandenong Wetlands.

The new speed limit is expected to be in place by mid-April, with motorists being alerted about the changes through electronic road signs, letters to residents, and other channels.

Further safety improvements are being investigated for the intersection of Stud Road and McFees Road by the Department of Transport and Planning.
