New Mobile Library Van For Pyrenees Community

14 December 2021

The brand-new Pyrenees Mobile Library Van is ready to serve its community thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria, Ms Danielle Green MP, officially launched the $95,000 project today at an event in Beaufort.

The project was fully funded through the 2019 round of the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program and delivered by Pyrenees Shire Council.

The new Mobile Library Van is designed to make the library service much more versatile. It is a fit-for-purpose van, with appropriate shelving, a loading ramp and mobile book trolley. The van will increase the safety and efficiency of staff, increase comfort and choice for remote communities, encourage increased usage of library services and enable the future expansion of current library programs.

The Living Libraries Infrastructure Program enables Victorian councils and regional library corporations to deliver new or renewed library infrastructure for their communities. It supports the role of libraries in strengthening communities and encouraging opportunities for community participation.

The Andrews Government has invested more than $32.5 million dollars over the last six years into 95 library infrastructure projects with a total project cost of $236.8 million.
