The body overseeing greyhound racing in Victoria has been strengthened with two new board appointments.
Minister for Racing Martin Pakula today announced the appointments of Bill Buccilli and Daniel Nugent to the board of Greyhound Racing Victoria.
Mr Nugent has extensive commercial and corporate experience including senior roles at Energy Australia and KPMG. He has been actively involved in the greyhound racing industry and is a former member of the GRV industry consultative group subcommittee.
Mr Buccilli has a long and successful association with the greyhound industry, including as an owner. He brings significant experience in real estate management to the board, having held a number of director roles at Melbourne agencies.
Mr Pakula also announced the reappointment of Chair Peita Duncan and the appointment of Emmett Dunne to the position of Deputy Chair.
Under the leadership of Ms Duncan, Greyhound Racing Victoria has advanced the code’s safe racing strategy, continued to put integrity and welfare at the centre of the sport and ensured an uninterrupted racing program during the pandemic.
Mr Dunne was first appointed to the board in 2016 following a 40-year career as a police officer, and has significant experience in ethical standards and integrity. He is also vice-president of the Richmond Football Club.
The greyhound racing industry in Victoria generates more than $500 million for the economy and provides 4,300 direct and indirect jobs across the state.
