New County Court Judge Appointed

The Andrews Labor Government has today announced the appointment of Fran Dalziel as a judge of the County Court.

Ms Dalziel was admitted to legal practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia in 2001. She signed the Bar Roll in 2005.

In 2012, she was appointed as a Crown Prosecutor, and in 2018, she was appointed as a Senior Crown Prosecutor contributing to the Court of Appeal practice and trial practice. In November 2018, she was appointed Senior Counsel for Victoria.

In this role, Ms Dalziel has been involved in the prosecution of several complex and high profile matters on behalf of the State of Victoria.

Prior to her appointment as a Crown Prosecutor, Ms Dalziel practised in criminal law and personal injury at the Victorian Bar.

She has also worked as a solicitor in the firm Mills Oakley Lawyers, as well as at TAC Law’s WorkCover division.

Ms Dalziel has previously served as an Associate at the Court of Appeal.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Monash University and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Melbourne University.

She will commence her appointment from 28 February 2020.
