Robinvale P-12 College is set to be transformed into a brand new community learning hub ready for 1 January 2016.
It will have a new name and vision, and a focus on engaging both its students and the broader community in learning.
The new community learning hub’s vision is to provide ‘great learning for a thriving community’ and will aim to achieve great academic results for students and provide a broad range of pathways for the future.
The new school and community learning hub will offer:
- community learning classes and programs
- a new Early Learning Centre
- a larger garden
- deeper industry partnerships that can provide future opportunities for school leavers and members of the broader community
- more ways for parents and carers, family members and friends to get actively involved
The new community learning hub will also have a new name, which will be decided by the School Council later this year. Student enrolments will not be affected by the changes and current students will not be required to re-enrol.
All staff will be given the opportunity to continue working at the new community learning hub. Support will be provided to those who have chosen not to remain.
The closure and re-opening was recommended by the School Council earlier this year, and was recently approved by Minister for Education James Merlino. The School Council had decided that re-opening as a new learning hub with a fresh focus and wider community engagement was the best way to address issues raised in recent reviews of the school.
