New Classrooms And Sports Area For Basin Primary School

15 June 2018

Students at The Basin Primary School will soon be able to enjoy first-rate classrooms and sporting facilities thanks to investments from the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education and Member for Monbulk James Merlino today toured the construction site to view progress of the $7.88 million upgrade, located on Mountain Highway near the Dandenong Ranges.

Next term, students and staff will have access to new classrooms and administration spaces, alongside a new office, reception and sickbay.

Students will also enjoy sports and recreation in a multi-purpose gymnasium, with a competition-grade basketball and netball court.

The upgrade includes works at the Basin Community House with a new staff room, computer room, art room, toilet and kitchen the whole community can use.

K20 Architecture designed the new upgrades, with May Constructions and Fimma Constructions responsible for the building works.

The Basin Primary School has been part of the local community for over 100 years, and has grown from a one-teacher rural school to its current enrolment of 570 students this year.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so every Victorian student can get a great education and every community has access to a great local school.

There are now 70 new government schools and more than 1300 school upgrades in the construction pipeline following the Government’s record $3.8 billion investment in school infrastructure.
