The State Sport Centres Trust – which oversees the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, Melbourne Sport Centres Parkville (State Netball Hockey Centre) and Lakeside Stadium – has a new Chair.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula announced the appointment of Tracey Cooper, who has been a member of the Trust since 2017, to the position.

Mr Pakula acknowledged the significant contribution of former Chair Christopher Jackson, who served for five years on the Trust and oversaw an important period of development for the organisation.

Ms Cooper has a wealth of corporate and administrative experience. She is currently chief executive of business content organisation Dokio with clients around the world, and Chair of the Victorian Government’s Southern Metropolitan Partnership, which provides advice to government on priorities for the region.

Ms Cooper is also a non-executive director of Box Hill Institute and the travel portal rome2rio.

The State Sport Centres Trust’s venues host more than 2 million visitors each year. In addition to managing three of Victoria’s best known and most-used sports centres, the Trust is also contributing its expertise to the State Basketball Centre’s $132 million redevelopment.

Through its facilities, the Trust delivers more than $164 million in economic benefit to Victoria each year, supporting 1,180 jobs and providing extensive community benefits.
