The Carroll Labor Government has appointed two new representatives to help protect the rights of Victorians with disability.
Minister for Disability Lizzie Blandthorn today announced the appointments of David Simmonds as Victorian Disability Worker Commissioner and Dr Sarah Miller as Disability Services Commissioner.
Mr Simmonds is an experienced accessibility and inclusion leader with a strong background in disability policy, transport accessibility reform and advocacy.
He currently serves as Director of Accessibility and Inclusion at the Department of Transport and Planning and brings lived experience of disability to the role.
Dr Miller brings more than 20 years' experience across mental health, human rights, health and justice.
She has held a commissioner-level role in mental health in the ACT and led disability inclusion initiatives globally with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Mr Simmonds will commence on 19 October and Dr Miller on 2 November.
