The Andrews Labor Government has launched the first interactive app to help Victorians get out and explore our incredible state forests.
The More to Explore app encourages users to enjoy state forests through an interactive map via a range of activities – including camping, picnicking, walking, fishing, four-wheel driving, mountain biking and trail bike riding.
The Forest Fire Management Victoria app has been designed to help users navigate when out in the forest to find trails and sites that suit their interests.
The app provides real-time information, making it quicker and easier than ever before to explore and enjoy the great outdoors with the most up to date details.
With almost 400 camping and picnic sites and over 240 recreational trails to choose from – including walking trails, mountain bike trails, scenic drives, and four-wheel drive tours – having that extra guiding hand to help you choose a trail takes the hard work out of finding the right one for you.
The app allows you to plan your visit before even leaving the house, using the search function to find the ideal State forest site or trail.
If visiting areas likely to be out of mobile phone range or with limited mobile reception – explorers can download maps onto your mobile phone, to enable offline navigation and location on the map using the phone’s GPS function.
To download the More to Explore app, head to iTunes. The Android version of the app is planned for release in Google Play in 2018.
