Victoria’s newest 24-hour police station at Forest Hill will provide a state-of-the-art crime fighting hub for police in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs to help keep the community safe.
Acting Minister for Police Robin Scott today joined Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton to officially open the new $12 million Forest Hill police station.
It will provide a 24-hour police response to suburbs across Melbourne’s east, including Mitcham, Nunawading, and Burwood East.
Located at the old Wobbies World site on Springvale Road, the new station has been designed and built with specialist features to provide the safest possible working environment for police, and for members of the public who visit the station.
Forest Hill is home to the Eastern divisional headquarters with more than 80 police officers and other specialist police staff.
This includes dedicated youth resources officers, intelligence officers and a multicultural officer, who all work with police and the community to prevent and respond to local crime.
The Andrews Labor Government is providing more resources, better equipment and new and upgraded facilities for police across the state with a record $2.5 billion in funding delivered to Victoria Police.
