More Than 460,000 Jobs Created In Victoria Under Labor

Victoria’s jobs growth continues, with 10,000 jobs created in March alone, and the State’s unemployment rate dropping to 4.6 per cent.

Australian Bureau of Statistics data released today shows more than 123,000 people found a job in Victoria in the year to March 2019 – the largest percentage increase of all the states.

Importantly, the vast majority of these jobs were full time.

Victoria’s unemployment rate fell 0.1 percentage points in the month, remaining well below the national average of 5 per cent.

Since the Andrews Labor Government was first elected in November 2014, Victoria’s unemployment rate has dropped by 2.1 percentage points – the largest decrease among the states.

In just over four years, more than 461,000 people have found a job in Victoria – more than 70 per cent of them full-time.

In more good news Victoria’s youth unemployment rate has also dropped 2.2 percentage points over the year – with an extra 20,000 young people finding work in the state.
