More People And Jobs Coming Soon To Shepparton’s Mall

07 February 2022

The Maude Street Mall redevelopment continues to take shape, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria Danielle Green today visited the mall precinct to view progress on the project, which received $3.75 million from the Labor Government’s Regional Infrastructure Fund - Stimulus Round.

The revamp of the central community hub includes new events areas, a playground, outdoor seating and public art. New gardens and more trees will also be planted.

Works are on track for completion in November, with construction on the new playground at Fraser Street underway. A new one-way road, car parking bays and better pedestrian access are also part of the plan aimed at bringing more people into the Shepparton CBD.

Construction is expected to create more than 50 direct and indirect jobs, with almost 300 additional retail-related positions expected to be available after the project is completed.

The $17.15 million project is being delivered in partnership with the Commonwealth Government and City of Greater Shepparton, which engaged the local community during the planning stage.

The Regional Infrastructure Fund is part of the Government’s flagship Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, which helps businesses create more jobs in regional Victoria, supports community projects and helps councils to build the infrastructure locals need.

The Fund is key to the Government’s almost $30 billion investment across regional and rural Victoria since 2015.
