The Andrews Labor Government is helping create 73 new full time jobs in the Latrobe Valley with the expansion of a meat processing facility in Trafalgar.

Visiting Victoria Valley Meat Exports, Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for Industry and Employment Wade Noonan today announced the company’s $1.2 million expansion to boost jobs and generate up to $54 million in additional exports per year. This is also expected to create 85 new indirect jobs for the local area.

The project is set to increase the cattle processing capacity of the facility to 1,200 head per week, providing an additional market for cattle producers in Gippsland.

This is the first project from our new Latrobe Valley Economic Facilitation Fund, which will support job creation as part of our $40 million Latrobe Valley Economic Development Program.

The fund is focused on fast-tracking projects that help existing companies grow and reach their full potential, as well as attracting new investment into the Valley.

A new dedicated Latrobe Valley economic development team has also been established to work alongside the community to deliver jobs and a stronger economic future.

The Labor Government is supporting the Latrobe Valley communities with around $220 million in new investments, including $130 million to upgrade schools, hospitals and roads.
