The Carroll Labor Government is backing more jobs in Melbourne’s west with planning underway for two new employment precincts in Ravenhall and Truganina.
Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny today announced the start of planning works in Ravenhall and Warrawee precincts, delivering more jobs closer to where thousands of homes are being built.
Planning for the two precincts will pilot a new industry led approach where developers will work with the Government on parts of the planning process.
The proponents – Boral, Dexus, and Pelligra – will fund the planning and infrastructure improvements to unlock the land in the long term.
There will be public consultation so the community can have their say on the new developments.
This includes major upgrades to arterial roads in the area, to ensure infrastructure keeps up with development.
Over 72 hectares of land was recently rezoned to be used for Industrial usage in the same precinct, creating over 1000 jobs through the Development Facilitation Program.
Melbourne’s west is driving Victoria’s economy, creating more jobs and is a key location for the Australia’s freight and logistics industry.
The new employment precincts are also backed by Melton East, a new suburb that will deliver 12,000 homes, seven schools and more than five MCGs worth of parks and reserves.
Once complete, Melton East will be home to more than 36,000 residents and support around 1,600 jobs.
Labor is planning for Melbourne's future – building more homes, while creating the infrastructure required to support growing communities.
Jess Wilson’s One Nation Liberal Coalition will block 300,000 new homes in established suburbs and force all new housing to Green Wedge zones – leaving families without schools, hospitals and infrastructure needed to support them.
