A municipal monitor has been appointed to Central Goldfields Shire Council to provide support during the caretaker period as an investigation by the Local Government Compliance and Investigations Inspectorate continues.
Minister for Local Government Natalie Hutchins has appointed Bill Jaboor to provide greater certainty for the ratepayers of Central Goldfields Shire during the investigation.
The monitor will provide advice on any governance processes that are needed and will report to both the Minister and Council.
Mr Jaboor is a respected former CEO of Hobsons Bay and Brimbank City Councils who recently filled the role of municipal monitor at Casey City Council.
The Inspectorate investigation is now underway and is likely to continue for some time.
