Millions of dollars in unclaimed money are up for grabs, with the Allan Labor Government urging Victorians to search online and find out if they have a claim on any funds.
Minister for Finance Danny Pearson announced today that across the state, there are over one million entitlements waiting to be claimed totalling a pool of more than $200 million.
Among the thousands of lucky Victorians who could be entitled to an unexpected windfall is a Box Hill man with $882,697 waiting to be claimed, a Plenty woman who has $869,129 worth of unclaimed money and a Nunawading woman with $677,001 of entitlements.
Other large unclaimed entitlements include a Sorrento man with $283,850, an Ardeer woman with $259,828, and a Melbourne woman with $238,669.
As of July 2025, there were 55,878 entitlements in the City of Melbourne worth $18,304,653, followed by Boroondara ($12,786,177), Stonnington ($10,089,418) and Port Phillip ($9,148,961).
Greater Geelong leads the regional windfall with $6,490,246, followed by Mornington Peninsula ($5,482,981), Yarra Ranges ($3,954,525) and Ballarat ($3,225,197).
The State Revenue Office (SRO) maintains an online register of money that remains unclaimed after 12 months. This includes share dividends, salaries and wages, rents and bonds, debentures and interest and proceeds from sales. Many entitlements have been held by the SRO for less than 10 years.
In addition to unclaimed money, the SRO also holds Tattersalls, Intralot and Tabcorp prizes, as well as TAB winnings that have remained unclaimed for 12 months or more. The highest unclaimed gaming entitlement is $2,136,327 from Tattersalls which was received in March 2016.
To search for unclaimed money, visit https://www.sro.vic.gov.au/unclaimed-money . Applicants will need their name or company name and the address they believe the unclaimed money lodging organisation would have had on file. To claim, people will need various supporting documents as well as proof-of-identity documents.
To claim lotto or TAB winnings, submit the original ticket to the SRO with the person’s name, postal address, phone number and email address clearly printed on the back of each ticket.
