Families in Melbourne’s south east are a step closer to accessing more health care, with the Allan Labor Government’s new Pakenham Community Hospital reaching structural completion.

Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne and Member for Pakenham Emma Vulin today visited the Pakenham Community Hospital site to see progress on the project which will deliver a range of everyday health services and give locals better access to care, closer to home.

With major structural works now complete, construction on the external façade will now commence while the internal fit-out takes place.

The Pakenham Community Hospital will be located at 5 Drake Place and is within walking distance of the town centre and train station. The project will also deliver ground-level parking with over 150 spaces and a patient drop off zone outside the main entry, providing convenient access for patients, visitors and staff.

To be operated by Monash Health, the community hospital will include two levels of clinical spaces for services like allied health and rehabilitation, diagnostics like pathology and imaging, public dental, chemotherapy, dialysis and urgent care.

It will also provide strong links to specialists, community health providers and social support services – improving follow-up treatment and support for those requiring complex care.

Delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority in partnership with Monash Health and builder Lendlease, the Pakenham Community Hospital is part of the Labor Government’s more than $800 million Community Hospitals Program. It’s on track to be completed in 2026.
