Melton Racing Rings In The New Year

21 December 2017

Melton racegoers will celebrate New Year’s Eve trackside this year, thanks to a joint funding package of almost $30,000 supported by the Andrews Labor Government.

The Labor Government is contributing $10,000 towards the harness racing meeting on Sunday 31 December courtesy of its Victorian Racing Industry Fund.

Tabcorp Park Melton’s New Year’s Eve celebration is in its fourth year, with this year promising to be the biggest and most festive event yet.

This year’s celebration will feature activities for all ages, including music from DJs Alive and the Redline band, as well as an after party in the Sports Bar for over 18s.

Children will be kept amused with a variety of carnival rides, a jumping castle and face painting. A spectacular fireworks display at the stroke of midnight will welcome in the New Year.

The club is providing $12,000 towards the event and Harness Racing Victoria is contributing $7,500.

Since 2014, the Labor Government has contributed more than $344,000 to support five infrastructure projects and eight raceday attraction events at Tabcorp Park Melton.

The racing industry in the outer Melbourne region generates in excess of $375 million for the Victorian economy each year and helps sustain about 3,720 full-time jobs locally.
